"Natural selection and its analogs in non-biological spheres may well be the major - or only - processes that create novelty at all levels of the universe. And that includes the complex novelty created by us."

"There’s a deep spirituality of nature embedded in the landscape of her work. She's producing a spiritual archeology where you can actually see the layers of nature unfolding. These layers of nature – trees, plants and the animals - all live and eventually die and their life force is absorbed by the earth. In Jennifer’s art, there’s a rediscovery and unearthing of that spiritual energy. She’s delving into a 'primitive prehistory' – a place where imaginations are formed and dream archetypes emanate." Ian Pyper, Brighton, England
Born in Austin, Texas, JC spent her formative years in El Paso where the border lifestyle, the Chihuahuan desert, and the vibrant Mexican and Native cultures influenced her psyche and her art. She attributes the aboriginal flavor of her work to countless hours spent walking the desert and the Rio Grande - where the colors and patterns within the sand, stone and water formed a vibrant vision that remains today. These desert visions, as well as the resonant memories she holds from incredible El Paso murals and the city parks overflowing with extended families, colorful piñatas, and mariachis, have influenced much of her work.
